Accommodations at USML

Information for Guests Staying Thursday Night
If you opted to stay Thursday night at the conference site, your breakfast and lunch on Friday are provided for you. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the Dining Hall. NAAPE is organizing a dinner on Thursday night at O’Toole’s restaurant in Libertyville (map). We will be dining at 7pm. The cost of the meal is not paid for by the conference registration, however. Folks should plan to give time for an Uber/Lyft or cab to pick them up from the conference center and take them to dinner. The cost of an Uber usually runs around $11 one-way.

Arriving at USML
For detailed driving directions to the conference site, please see our directions page. When you arrive at the conference site on Friday afternoon, please proceed to the NAAPE registration desk. This will be located in the South Residence Living Room (Building E, see map below). There you can pick up a copy of the conference program and several other items that we have for you, including your name badge. For safety reasons, USML requires that all guests be wearing their name badge while on campus. All conference guests are welcome to explore the entire campus, including USML’s beautiful university library. If you are looking for a quiet place to read, prepare or contemplate, this is a great place for it! If you have any questions while at the conference, just seek out any member of the executive committee, who will be wearing maroon name badges.

Rooms are guaranteed to be available by 4pm of the day you arrive, but many of them will be ready before this. Luggage can be left behind the NAAPE registration desk in the South Residence Living Room if you have to wait to get into your room.

If you are commuting by car, please note that the Route 176 Entrance to campus is closed. To enter the campus, please enter at the Route 45 entrance and park in the Purple Parking lot. The GPS address to use for this entrance is 700 Principal Ave, Mundelein, IL 60060. See the map here.

If you are arriving after 10pm on Thursday or Friday, your key will be left at the reception desk in Building E, South Residence Hall (see map below). Please contact USML Public Safety at 847-970-4815 when you arrive on campus so that they can let you in Building E and give you your room key.

Staying at USML
The rooms on site are akin to college dormitories, with an en suite bathroom and shower, desk and two twin-sized beds. Soap is provided but shampoo is not. Shampoo can be obtained at the NAAPE registration desk if you need it. The conference site has only one hairdryer to loan out, so it is recommended that you bring your own if you would like to use one. The hallways are lined with pieces of classic artwork, which is quite beautiful, but the hallways do echo. We therefore ask all guests to be as quiet as possible when entering and leaving their rooms.

If you forget your keys, there is a “call button” outside the door of Building E, which will call Public Safety to come and let you into the building. For all of our guests’ comfort and respite, please note that the quiet hours on campus are from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Also, we want to alert you to the fact that you will find a crucifix in your room, along with several other forms of religious iconography throughout the conference site. This is because the site is currently used as a seminary. You will see seminarians around the site as well. In light of this, we would like to reiterate our commitment to welcoming conference attendees of all religious backgrounds and creeds.

Every room at USML comes with two single beds, whether you have opted for a single or a double room. These are the only kinds of rooms that USML provides.

All guests should be checked out of their rooms by 11am of the day they are leaving the conference. Luggage can be kept behind the NAAPE registration table in the South Residence Living Room while you attend sessions.

Dining at USML
All meals will be taken in the USML main dining room. The dining room is marked as Building B on the campus map. For dining, please remember to take your room key with the dining tag on it to the dining room with you. You will scan this for your meal.

Hot breakfasts and lunches are included, as well as seated multi-course dinners with wine on Friday and Saturday. In Building D (where all presentations will take place), there is a full beverage bar with coffee, teas, juices, water and soda for you. There is also a full beverage bar (coffee, teas, juices, water and soda) in the South Residence Living Room.

On Friday and Saturday after dinner, there will be a social held in the Dining Hall with beer, wine, and light snacks, all included in the cost of registration.
